The Change

Prayers for Peace

from various faith traditions

So many prayers for peace from so many different religions, from so many different corners in this World and from so many different periods in our history.

What does this mean?

This means that all human beings from all periods of our history were desiring for Peace, for Rest and for Love.

It is not in our nature to always have fear and to desire to quarrels and wars.

Why do we still get our guns and why do we still run to the battlefields? Why do we still fire our guns and why do we still kill our neighbours? Why are we still fighting and killing for a peace of land and for the idea of just one single man, for the idea of just one single leader?

That is not what we desire for.

We still do bear the burden of the mass consciousness or the collective consciousness. We still will be crushed by this weight and we are still not able to free ourselves, to get awake and to realise that there is no seperateness from the chain of Life, but that there is only oneness, there is only unity of all that is.
There is no seperated you and there is no seperated me.

We all have to awake and we all have to spread our wings, we all must rise and fly like the mighty eagle.
We must spread our wings and fly away, to free ourselves from this mass consciousness. Do not listen what they are trying to tell you (inclusive your own ego) about the truth but do listen to your own voice, deep inside yourself. Listen to your
own conscience and ask advice to your own conscience. Foolow just the words of your own conscience.

At the moment that you will fly and will rise above the mass consciousness, you will know and feel that all the battles in this World will lead to nothing and that it has to change, a change which will lead to the end of all the killings.

If I watch the English language and when I see the next sentence, then just one character will make an enormous difference:

"Instead of killing each other, we better could start kissing each other".

Then we can change this World from the battlefield which it is now and which it is for already a very long period into a new paradise.

Fly like an eagle, do rise and start to understand the Change.

Prayers for Peace

If there is to be peace in the world
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities
There must be peace between neighbours.
If there is to be peace between neighbours
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home
There must be peace in the heart.

Lao-Tse 6th Century Chinese philosopher

May all beings be filled with joy and peace.
May all beings everywhere,
The strong and the weak,
The great and the small,
The mean and the powerful,
The short and the long,
the subtle and the gross:
May all beings everywhere,
Seen and unseen,
Dwelling far off or nearby,
Being or waiting to become:
May all be filled with lasting joy.
Let no one deceive another,
Let no one anywhere despise another,
Let no one out of anger or resentment
Wish suffering on anyone at all.
Just as a mother with her own life
Protects her child, her only child, from harm,
So within yourself let grow
A boundless love for all creatures.
Let your love flow outward through the universe,
To its height, its depth, its broad extent,
A limitless love, without hatred or enmity.
Then as you stand or walk,
Sit or lie down,
As long as you are awake,
Strive for this with a one-pointed mind;
Your life will bring heaven to earth.

Sutta Nipata

Almighty God and Creator,
You are the Father of all people on the earth.
Guide, I pray all the nations and their leaders
in the ways of justice and peace.
Protect us from the evils of injustice,
prejudice, exploitation, conflict and war.
Help us to put away mistrust, bitterness and hatred.
Teach us to cease the storing and using of implements of war.
Lead us to find justice, peace and freedom.
Unite us in the making and creating of the tools of peace
against ignorance, poverty, disease and oppression.
Grant that we may grow in harmony and friendship as brothers and sisters created in Your image, to Your honor and praise.

From an Orthodox Christian prayerbook

O Lord, grant us to love Thee;
grant that we may love those that love Thee;
grant that we may do the deeds that win Thy love.
Make the love of Thee be dearer to us than ourselves,
than our families, than wealth, and even than cool water.

Mohammed 570-632

Peace for Those Intoxicated with War
God of peace;
God of shalom;
God of salaam:
Save us from intoxication with war.
Turn down the media's frenzy and
unquestioning assumption that war will come.
Pull all peoples back from unstable international policy.
Deliver the nations from going out of control as the solution to conflict.
Bring us to sobriety of spirit.
Turn our hearts to peacemaking.
Give wisdom and light to our leaders, that they may choose the way to peace.

Buddhist Prayer for Peace
May all beings everywhere plagued
with sufferings of body and mind
quickly be freed from their illnesses.
May those frightened cease to be afraid,
and may those bound be free.
May the powerless find power,
and may people think of befriending
one another.
May those who find themselves in trackless,
fearful wilderness--
the children, the aged, the unprotected--
be guarded by beneficent celestials

Zoroastrian Prayer for Peace
We pray to God to eradicate all the misery in the world:
that understanding triumph over ignorance,
that generosity triumph over indifference,
that trust triumph over contempt, and
that truth triumph over falsehood.
Muslim Prayer for Peace
Praise be to the Lord of the
Universe who has created us and
made us into tribes and nations,
That we may know each other, not that
we may despise each other.
If the enemy incline towards peace, do
thou also incline towards peace, and
trust God, for the Lord is the one that
heareth and knoweth all things.
And the servants of God,
Most Gracious are those who walk on
the Earth in humility, and when we
address them, we say "PEACE."

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity.
Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech.
Be a lamp unto those who walk in darkness, and a home to the stranger.
Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring.
Be a breath of life to the body of humankind, and a dew to the soil of the human heart, and a fruit upon the tree of humility.

Bahaií prayer for peace

O Great Spirit of our ancestors, I raise my pipe to you.
To your messengers, the four winds, and to Mother Earth who provides for your children.
Give us the wisdom to teach our children to love,
to respect and to be kind to each other so they may grow with peace in mind.
Let us learn to share all the good things that you provide for us on this Earth.

Native American prayer for peace

Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, that we may walk in the paths of the Most High. And we shall beat our swords in ploughshares, and our spears into pruning hooks. Nations shall not lift up sword against nation - never shall they learn war any more. And none shall be afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.

Jewish prayer for peace

Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be known as children of God. But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To those who strike you on the cheek offer the other also, and from those who take away your cloak, do not withhold your coat as well. Give to everyone who begs from you, and of those who take away your goods, do not ask them again. And as you wish that others would do to you so you do to them.

Christian prayer for peace

Deep peace of the running wave to you
Deep Peace of the flowing air to you
Deep Peace of the quiet Earth to you
Deep Peace of the shining stars to you
Deep Peace of the gentle night to you

We pray for peace between cultures and indigenous people
Praise to you, O Creator God,
For the indigenous peoples
Of your world.
Those who have sought
Your spirit of truth
In the ancient cultures,
And who have walked gently
Upon the earth.

In our acknowledgement of their historic pain,
The dispossession and
We seek to live more justly,
Long to love more tenderly,
And yearn to walk in greater
Humility with them.

Help us to cross the bridge of opportunity built by Aboriginal people in this land under the Southern Cross.

Grant us a new experience of
Their many gifts
Through your healing grace.

Come, holy spirit, renew your whole creation and bring your peace to all cultures in the richness of their diversity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, lead us from the unreal to the Real
O God lead us from justice to light.
O God, lead us from death to immortality.
Shanti, Shanti, Shanti unto all.
O Lord, God Almighty,
May there be peace in celestial regions.
May there be peace in Earth.
May the waters be appeasing.
May herbs be wholesome, and may trees and plants bring peace to all.
May all beneficent beings bring peace to us.
May the Vedic Law propagate peace through the world.
May all things be a source of peace to us.
And may thy peace itself, bestow peace on all, and may that peace come to me also.

In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful.
Praise indeed to the Lord of the Universe who has created us and made us tribes and nations, that we may know each other, not that we may despise each other.
If the enemy incline towards peace, do thou also incline towards peace and trust in God, for the Lord is the one that heareth and knoweth all things.
And the servants of God, Most Gracious, are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when we address them, we say "peace".
